The Desktop Installer file

The second installer that PocketPC Installer Professional creates is an .exe which you run on your PC. This .exe actually contains the installer file that was created for the PocketPC within it.

What does this mean ? Well, it means that you only need to send someone this one .exe file to give them everything they need to deploy your set of .cab / other files on their device, from the comfort of their Desktop.

It's an ideal file to put on your website, to distribute your PocketPC software.

Your Desktop Installer file can either be a professional Wizard-style installer
or a simple single-screen installer.

When they run it on their PC, it'll search for a device connected by ActiveSync, copy the installer files to their device, then start running the PocketPC Installer Professional PDA installer (described on the previous page) on it.

By creating both types of installer, the PocketPC Installer Professional an extremely powerful way of distributing your PocketPC / Windows Mobile programs, in very small and easy to run files.
