PocketPC Installer Professional - What is it ? Let's look at the PDA installer file first. This is a self-extracting PocketPC .exe file that you run on your PDA, and which contains your entire set of .cab files / other files. One file. That's it. Copy it to your device, run it, and your .cab's / other files will get installed. It'll even do it intelligently, it will only install .cabs that you have specified are suitable for this device type, and which haven't already been installed on the device. ![]() Imagine - you could send out memory cards to all of your users, with this one file on them, and all they would need to do to install your suite of libraries/programs is to stick the card into their devices. Alternatively, you could send your users a link to a copy of this file, sitting on your web server, and they could click on this link to download, run, and intelligently install your suite of .cab files. Remember, these .exe's contain compressed copies of your .cab files, and nearly all .cab files aren't compressed. These PDA installer .exes will be smaller, download a lot quicker, and are the easiest way for a user to install a set of .cab files. Sounds too good to be true ? Yup, we couldn't agree more. |
